3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures .

For I, in my preaching [illegible: 1 letter]elivered it to you as one of the principal Articles of the Christian Faith which I received, either from Christ by Revelation, (as he saith Gal. 1.12.) or from Ananias, Acts 9. how that Christ died for our sins, Rom. 4.25. that is, that he might satisfie the Divine Justice for our sins, and make an atonement for us. And this is according to the Scriptures of the Old Testament, where it was foretold, Isa. [illegible: 1 letter]3 5, 6. He was wounded for our transgressions, and bruis[illegible: 1 letter]d for [illegible: 1 word] iniquities, and Dan. 9.26. that the Messias should be cut off, bu[illegible: 1 letter] not for himself.
