1 John2:3
3 And hereby we do know that we know him , if we keep his commandments.
This Faith is often in the holy Scripture signified by the name of Knowledg, Isa. 53.11. Iohn 17.3. viz. an appropriative, transformative Knowledg, by which we own and accept God in Christ, as ours (expressed also by Acknowledgment, [non-Latin text not transcribed], Eph. 1.17. Col. 2.2.) and are changed into his likeness, 2 Cor. 3.18. The meaning then is, That we perceive, or discern our selves to be sincere Believers, and consequently that Christ is both our Propitiation, and Advocate, when it is become habitual and easie to us to obey his Commandment.
