1 Kings22:36
36 And there went a proclamation throughout the host , about the going down of the sun, saying, Every man to his city, and every man to his own countrey .
Probably by Iehoshaphat's order, with the consent of the chief Captains of Israel; and possibly with the permission of the King of Syria, upon notice of Ahab's Death, which was the onely thing at which he aimed, ver. 31.
The King is Dead, and the Battel ended: and therefore every man hath liberty to return to his own House and private occasions.
