1 Timothy3:10
10 And let these also first be proved , then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless .
The higher officers ought to be proved, (as well as these of a lower order) as by examination or conference; so (which possibly is here more intended) by an observation of their Lives and Conversation▪ for some time before they were admitted into this employment.
Then being found blameless, they were to be admitted into this employment.
