AND it came to pass after this, that the king of the children of Ammon died, and Hanun his son reigned in his stead.
Nahash, v. 2. probably the same whose Army Saul defeated and destroyed, 1 Sam. 11. who out of enmity to Saul shewed kindness to David, as it follows; hoping also by fomenting the differences between Saul and David, to make way for his future Conquests.
