Acts10:1
THere was a cert[illegible: 1 letter]in man in Cesarea, called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band ▪
In Cesarea Palestine, as it was call'd in contra-distinction to Cesarea-Philippi.
A Roman by his name; which name was ordinarily to be found amongst the families of the Scipio's, and Sylla's.
A Band, answers either to a Regiment amongst us, or to a Legion amongst the Romans; (this latter was far greater than the former) It was called the Italian Band, as being composed of Italian Soldiers, and might be used as a guard of the Proconsul, who dwelt at Cesarea; who was that Felix we read of, Chap. 23.24.
