Acts10:11

11 And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending unto him, as it had been a great sheet , knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth:

Either visibly to his corporal eyes, as to St. Stephens; or rather mentally, more suitably to the rapture mentioned in the former verse.

Which might signifie, that Heaven that was shut to the children of men by the first Adam, was now by Christ the second Adam, opened to all believers.

This word is taken for any utensil, commonly used about the house; and with the sheet here spoken of, bears an Analogy to a Table, and Table-cloath amongst us:

So gathered up or knit, that the Vyands, verse 12. might not fall down. And this Cornelius saw to come from Heaven, to shew the liberty of taking him, and other Gentiles into the Churrh, [illegible: 1 letter]id come from thence onely.
