48 And when the Gentiles heard this , they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal li[illegible: 1 letter]e, believed.

There can be no true rest or peace in any, to whom Christ is not manifested; the Apostle telling us, that we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, Rom. 5.1. And the Kingdom of God is peace and joy in the Holy Ghost.

They magnified the goodness of God, which appeared in the Gospel unto them.

God who ordered the end, odereth the means, and gives them opportunities to hear the Word, and by it graciously worketh Faith in them whom he hath appointed to Eternal Life; without which Faith, purging the heart, there's no hope of life Eternal.
