Acts2:24

24 Whom God hath raised up , having loosed the pains of death , because it was not possible that he should be holden of it .

Christ rose by his own Power as God; it being perhaps too strong meat to be given at first to such who were under so great prejudices against our Saviour: but by consequence in the following discourse, he sufficiently shews it.

The same word [non-Latin text not transcribed], variously pointed, signifying either a cord or pain, the metaphor of loosing agrees with it.

Tho our Lord endured now more pain, after he had said, It is fulfilled, and had yeilded up the Ghost: yet whilest he was in the grave, being under the power of death, the pains of death are said to be loosed at his Resurrection.

Long, much less for ever; being such an one as David spake of.
