24 And seeing one of them suffer wrong , he desended him, and avenged him that was oppressed, and smote the Egyptian:
This fact of Moses some defend by the Law of Nature, which allows us to protect the innocent; but many things we know were done by an extraordinary warrant, which we are not to imitate; nor by our own Authority to avenge our selves or others.
