39 And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferiour to thee , and another third kingdom of brass , which shall bear rule over all the earth .

This was that of the Medes and Persians, inferiour in time and succession, in duration it lasted not half so long, as the Assyrian in prosperity and tranquility, for the Persian was fuller of trouble; yet was this wonderful rich and large for a time, Esther 1.1. this was the Breast and Armes of Silver.
