Daniel6:24

24 And the king commanded, and they brought those men which had accused Daniel, and they cast them into the den of lions , them, their children, and their wives ; and the lions had the mastery of them, and brake all their bones in pieces or ever they came at the bottom of the den.

Thus they digged a pit for another and fell into it themselves, which the Heathens say was a very just Law, the Law of Retaliation, which the Lord doth often observe, as in Adonibezec, and Ahabs cases, and many more.

Darius was yet cruel in this execution, because he cast in with them to the Lions, their Wives and Children. This is not without precedent in Scripture, as in Cora[illegible: 1 letter] and his Company, A[illegible: 1 letter]ha[illegible: 1 letter] and Haman, for the greater terror; For the Kings Justice in this Fact, we need not trouble our selves, it being the Custom of the Arbitrary Tyrants of the East.
