6 And they rose up early on the morrow, and offered burnt-offerings, and brought peace-offerings : and the people sat down to eat and to drink and rose up to play .

But no sin-offerings, which they most needed.

For the sacrifices were accompanied with feasting both among the worshippers of the true God and among Idolaters. See Exod. 18. 12. and 24. 11.
