24 Then ceased the work of the house of God , which is at Jerusalem. So it ceased unto the second year of the reign of Darius king of Persia .

For they neither could nor might proceed in that work against their Kings Prohibition, without a special command from the King of Heaven, which they had ch. 5. 1, 2.
