Genesis24:50

50 Then Laban and Bethuel answered and said, The thing proceedeth from the LORD : we cannot speak unto thee bad or good .

Laban is put first, either because this Bethuel was not his Father but his younger Brother, as Iosephus thinks; or because Laban was the chief manager of this business, to whom his Father seems to have committed the care of his Family being himself unfit for it through age or infirmity.

From Gods counsel and special providence. Hereby it appears they had the Knowledge and Worship of the true God among them, though they added Idols to him.

We cannot without opposing God speak or act any thing which may hinder thy design or thwart thy desires. Compare Gen. 31. 24, 29. 2 Sam. 13. 22.
