Either of the Countrey of Syria, as it is called Hos. 12. 12. or rather, Padan of Syria, or, as the Septuagint and Chaldee render it, Mesopotamia of Syria: For that Padan is the proper name of a place may be gathered from Gen. 48. 7. and it is so called from its scituation between two Rivers, for Padan signifies a pair or two.
