13 And he lodged there that same night, and took of that which came to his hand , a present for Esau his brother:

Either that which was in his hand and power: or rather that which was nearest at hand and most ready for him, because the approaching night and his own great fear gave him not leave to make so scrupulcus a choice as otherwise he would have made.
