Isaiah57:16
16 For I will not contend for ever , neither will I be always wroth: for the spirit should fail before me, and the souls which I have made .
I will not constantly proceed to the utmost severity with sinful men in this Life, and therefore I will put an end to the miseries of the Jews, and turn their captivity.
For then their Spirits would sink and die under my stroke, and I should do nothing else but destroy the works of mine own hands. Therefore I consider their Infirmity, and spare them. Compare Psal. 78. 38, 39 & 103. 13, 14.
