Jeremiah39:16

16 Go and speak to Ebed-melech the Ethiopian , saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, Behold, I will bring my words upon this city for evil and not for good, and they shall be accomplished in that day before thee .

Ebedmelech is here again called the Ethiopian to the reproach of the Iews, that a stranger should shew more kindness to a Prophet of the Lord than any of that Nation to whom he was specially sent, which was a Type of the calling of the Gentiles, and rejection of the Iewes.

God assures Ebedmelech, the City should be taken and burnt, and the people carried into Captivity.
