Jeremiah47:4
4 Because of the day that cometh to spoil all the Philistines , and to cut off from Tyrus and Zidon every helper that remaineth : for the LORD will spoil the Philistines, the remnant of the countrey of Caphtor .
The day which God hath set, and appointed for the ruine of the Philistines.
Tyre and Sidon were neighbouring to the Philistines, as appears from Gen. 10.14▪ 15. Ioel 3.4. and so were often called to their help, God threatneth both to destroy them and also those that helped them;
it appeareth from G[illegible: 1 letter]n. 10.14. that the P[illegible: 1 letter]i[illegible: 1 letter]i[illegible: 2 letters]ines and Caphtorims were related▪ for their first Progen[illegible: 1 letter]tors Phili[illegible: 1 letter]tim and Capt[illegible: 2 letters]im ▪ were both the sons of M[illegible: 1 letter]z[illegible: 2 letters] im the son of H[illegible: 1 letter]m one of the sons of N[illegible: 1 letter]ah. It appears from Deut. 2.23. that they expelled the A[illegible: 1 letter]it[illegible: 1 letter]s ▪ and dwelt [illegible: 1 letter]n Hazerim to Azzah, whether their Countrey be what was afterwards called Cappadocia or Damiata is not much material for us to know, they were a people confe[illegible: 1 letter]erate with the Phi[illegible: 1 letter]istines, whom God here threatneth to destroy with them.
The day which God hath set, and appointed for the ruine of the Philistines.
