Jeremiah50:13
13 Because of the wrath of the LORD, it shall not be inhabited, but it shall be wholly desolate : every one that goeth by Babylon, shall be astonished, and hiss at all her plagues .
The same thing was threatned against Babylon, Isa. 13.20. It shall never be inhabited, neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation.
It seemeth to be a proverbial speech made use of to express the miserable state of a place; we had it before, chap. 49.17. applyed to Edom. It is according to the threatning, Deut. 28.37. See chap. 25.9, 11. and 29.18. and 42.18. Ezek. 5.15.
