17 And Othniel the son of Kenaz, the brother of Caleb took it: and he gave him Achsah his daughter to wife.
Judg. 1. 13. and 3. 9.
Obj. This Marriage was unlawful. Ans. No, for it was not Othniel, but Kenaz who was Caleb's Brother; and besides, the word Brother is commonly used for any Kinsman; And that Caleb was not properly Othniels Brother, sufficiently appears, because Caleb is constantly called the Son of Iephunneh; and Othniel, the Son of Kenaz here, and 1 Chron. 4. 13.
