Matthew Poole and continuators on Judges 9:15

15 And the bramble said unto the trees, If in truth ye anoint me king over you , then come, and put your trust in my shadow : and if not, let fire come out of the bramble, and devour the cedars of Lebanon .

If you deal truly and justly in making me King.

Then you may expect Protection under his Government.

Instead of Protection, you shall receive Destruction by him, especially you Cedars, i. e. Nobles, such as the House of Millo, who have been most forward in this work.
