Matthew Poole and continuators on Luke 19:28

28 And when he had thus spoken, he went before, ascending up to Jerusalem.

Ierusalem (as we before Noted) stood upon an Hill, those that went to it therefore ascended. This going before the Company was Noted by Mark, ch. 10.32. here again Luke taketh notice of it. To let us know certainly with what Alacrity, our Saviour managed the business of Mans Redemption. He knew that he was at this time to be the sufferer, and to die at Ierusalem; to shew that he was freely willing, he leadeth the way.
