48 Where their worm dyeth not, and the fire is not quenched.
See the Notes on Matth. 5.29, 30. where the same things Occur (Matthew only mentions the Hand, and the Eye) all have the same Significancy, viz. That it is better to deny our selves in some particular satisfaction, then to hazard Eternal Salvation for the gratifying the Appetite in it.
