Matthew12:17
17 That it might be fulfilled, which was spoke[illegible: 1 letter] by Isaias the prophet, saying.
Christ did this, that is, he withdrew himself when he heard what Councels the Pharisees and Herodians had taken, he Charged those w[illegible: 1 letter]om he had cured, that they should not publish it abroad, he did those good Acts before spoken of, That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Prophet. That he might shew himself to be the very Person, whom the Prophet Isaiah long since did foretel, Isa. 42.1, 2, 3, 4. The words in the Prophet are thus. Behold my Servant whom I uphold, mine Elect in whom my Soul delighteth, I have put my Spirit upon him, he shall bring forth Iudgment to the Gentiles. He shall not Cry, nor lift up, nor cause his Voice to be heard in the Streets. A bruised Reed shall [illegible: 1 letter]e not break, and the smoking Flax be shall not quench: He shall bring forth Iudgment unto Truth. He shall not fail, nor be discouraged, till he hath set Iudgment in the Earth, and the Isles shall wait for his Law. Thus far that Prophet, let us now consider his Words, or Prophecy, as repeated by the Evangelist.
