Nahum3:5
5 Behold I am against these aith the LORD of hosts, and I will discover thy skirts upon thy face, and I will shew the nations thy nakedness , and the kingdoms thy shame.
See chap. 2. ver. 13. let. p. q. r. s.
Nineveh as an Harlot had been proud, and appeared beautiful, and gay in the gifts of her Lovers; but now God will deal with her according to her wayes, (and as men provoked use to do with Harlots) strip her naked, and expose her to greatest infamy, or deal with thee as inhumane Souldiers do deal with Captive Women, Vide Annot. in Ezek. 16.37.
Which once did reverence thy greatness, shall now abhor thy nakedness which they behold
thy vileness and thy shame as in the next words.
Marginal references: Isa. 47.2.3, 8. Jer. 13.22, 26.
