7 These are the families of the Reubenite: and they that were numbred of them, were fourty and three thousand and seven hundred and thirty .

(i. e.) The chief houses, which were subdivided into divers lesser families.

Whereas in their last numbring they were 46500, Numb. 1. 21. for Korahs conspiracy, as well as other provocations of theirs had cut off many of them.
