Proverbs27:10

10 Thine own friend and thy fathers friend forsake not, neither go into thy brothers house in the day of thy calamity; for better is a neighbour that is near , than a brother far off.

Of whose friendship thou hast had long experience.

To wit, for comfort and relief, and so as to forsake or neglect thy friend for him.

The friend mentioned in the beginning of the verse, who hath shewed himself to be a true and a good neighbour.

Either 1. In place by cohabitation. Or rather 2. In affection, in which respect God is oft said to be near to the righteous, and far from the wicked.
