Romans2:6
6. Who will render to every man according to his deeds .
This proves what he had said, That the Judgment of God, in that Day, will be according to Righteousness, or most Righteous Judgment. Paralel places you will find, Psal. 62.12. Mat. 16.27. 2 Cor. 5.10. Revel. 22.12. The Papists from hence infer the Merit of Works: But the Reward to the Godly, is a Reward of Grace, and not of [illegible: 2 letters]bt. The word [non-Latin text not transcribed] imports not only a just Retribution, but a free Gift, as in Mat. 20.8. & alibi. Good Works are the Rule of his Proceeding, not the Cause of his Retribution, vid Luc. 17.10.
Marginal references: Jer. 17.[illegible: 1 letter] & 32.1[illegible: 1 letter] [illegible: 1 word] 14.12▪
