Romans9:27

27. Esaias also cryeth concerning Israel, Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea , a remnant shall be saved .

Hereby is noted the Prophets Zeal, or his openness and plainness. The Testimony Recorded, is found in Isa. 10.22, 29.

For Number or Multitude, for so the promise was to Abraham, Gen. 22.17. and 32.12.

Isaiah saith, Shall return, i. e. From the Captivity, or from Sin (as 'tis Isai. 10.21.) This shews, none can be saved, but they which Return and Repent.

In this, and the Two next Verses, he proves, That it was foretold of old, by Esaias the Prophet, That God should pass by the greatest part of the Iews, and save only a remnant, or a few of them.
