Charles H. Spurgeon on Psalms 92:12

Palm trees. The open country moreover wears a sad aspect now: the soil is rent and dissolves into dust at every breath of wind; the green of the meadows is almost entirely gone, —the palm tree alone preserves in the drought and heat its verdant root of leaves. —Gotthelf H. von Schubert, 1780-1860.
