Amos1:13

becauſe they have ript up the women with child] Immane facinus, & vicinis indignum, ſaith Mercer, A cruel fact, and the worſe, becauſe done by ſo neere neighbours, and allyes; thus to kill two at one blow, and thoſe alſo innocent and impotent, and ſuch as they ought to have ſpared by the law of nature, and of nations: and all this, meerely out of covetouſneſſe and ambition.

See the Note on Hoſ. 13.16. and learn to deteſt covetouſneſſe, that root of all evill, 1 Tim. 6.10.
