Isaiah7:17
Ver. 17. The Lord ſhall bring upon thee, &c.] ſc. in caſe thou believe not. Thou and thine ſhall periſh, notwithſtanding this preſent deliverance; the Lord will deſtroy thee after that he hath done thee good, as Joſh. 24.20. Et cujus verbis credere noluiſti, ejus verberibus fidem habebis. Thou ſhalt ſoon have enough of the Aſſyrian, in whom thou wilt needs truſt, and not in Me. Him thou ſhalt call in for help againſt others: but he, having taken a taſte of ſo fertile a ſoil and wealthy a ſtate, ſhall at length over-run all: Like as afterwards alſo the old Gawls did Italy, and the Saracens the Greek Empire.
