Ver. 19. Through the wrath of the Lord of hoſtes is the Land darkened] viz. by that pride of ſmoke or vaſt pillar of ſmoke mentioned ver. 18. Triſtem & miſeram rerum faciem deſignat.
No man ſhall ſpare his brother] Wickedneſs is cruel: and a man had as good deal with a Cannibal, as with a truly covetous caytiffe.
