Ver. 27. Set up a ſtandard] Thus God the great Induperator beſpeaketh the Medes and Perſians, as his field officers.
Prepare the Nations againſt her] Heb. Sanctify, call them together to wage this ſacred war againſt Babylon.
Call together againſt her the Kingdoms of Ararat, Minni, Xenoph. Cyrop. l[illegible: 1 letter]b. 7. and Aſhkenaz] i. e. Of both the Armenia's and of Aſcania ſubdued by Cyrus, before he marched againſt Babylon. Vatablus will have Aſhkenaz to be Gothland; the Jewes, Germany: but theſe were too far remote.
