Job20:27
Verſe 27. The heaven ſhall reveal his iniquity] Job had called heaven and earth to record of his innocency. chap 16.17, 18. This is not to do now. ſaith Zophar. for all creatures have conſpired thy ruine, and contributed thereunto, Wind, Fire, Sabeans, &c. ſo that he that hath but half an eye, may ſee thee to be a wicked perſon. Such as are wicked indeed. not only ſecundum dici. as Job. but ſecundum eſſe, as Ahab, cannot look to heaven above, or to earth beneath, without horrour to think even theſe, if other witneſſes faile, ſhall bring to light their ſecret ſinnes, and come to give teſtimony againſt them before the great Iudge at the laſt day.
And the earth ſhall ariſe up againſt him.] Night will convert it ſelf into Noon againſt the evil-doers: and ſilence prove a ſpeaking evidence. Earth cryed Cain guilty, the Stars in their courſes fought againſt Siſera as a Traytor and Rebel to the higheſt Majeſty; Yea, —Servi ut taceant jumenta loquentur. the Aſſe hath a verdict to paſſe upon Balaam. A Bird of the Aire ſhall carry the voice that but whiſpereth Treaſon, Eccleſ. 10.20. Yea if nothing elſe will reveal iniquity, it will reveal it ſelfe. It will prove like the Oyntment of the right hand, of which Salomon ſaith, that it wrayeth it ſelf, Prov. 27.16.
