Job38:22

Verſe 22. Haſt thou entered into the treaſures of the ſnow?] i, e. Into the clouds where theſe Meteors (whereof before chap. 37.) are ingendred: and from whence God, when he pleaſes, bringeth ſuch great ſtore, as if he had them treaſured up by him of a long ſeaſon. See the like ſaid of the winds, Pſal 135.7. Quaſi parata haberet horum penuaria. Gregory allegorizing theſe words, ſheweth, that earthly treaſures are treaſures of Snow. We ſee little children what paines they take to rake and ſcrape together ſnow to make a Snow-ball: Right ſo, they that ſcrape together the Treaſure of this world; have but a ſnow-ball of it: ſo ſoone as the Sun ſhineth, and God breatheth upon it, and ſo entreth into it, by and by it cometh to nothing.

Or haſt thou ſeen the treaſures of hail?] Another Metaphor from Officers of the Exchequer, or publick Treaſury; q.d. Haſt thou the inſpection or adminiſtration of theſe Meteors?
