Verſe 25. Why baptizeſt thou then? Why doſt thou innovate any thing in the rites of Religion? A change they looked for under the Meſſiah, and had learned it out of Jer. 31. But this teſtimony brought by John Baptiſt out of Iſaiah, to prove his own calling; either they did not, or would not underſtand; nor yet do they ſeek to be better informed by him.
