Verſe 28. In Bethabara,] That is, by interpretation, the place of paſſage, or Traiectum, where Iſrael paſſed over Jordan. So the acts of Joſhua and Jeſus begin both at a place. Baptiſme alſo is firſt adminiſtred, where it was of old fore-ſhadowed. Chriſt is the true Bethabara, Epheſ. 2.18. we ſaile to Heaven on his bottome.
