John10:18
Verſe 18. I lay it down of ſelfe] A neceſſity there was of our Saviours death, but it was a neceſſity of immutability (becauſe God had decreed it, Acts 2 23.) not of coaction; He did willingly. Therefore, when he gave up the ghoſt, he cried with a loud voice; which ſhews that his life was not then ſpent; he might have retained it longer if he would: and thereupon the Centution concludes him to be the Sonne of God.
