John17:25
Verſe 25. O righteous Father.] Gods righteouſneſſe is either, 1. Of equity, to puniſh offences. Or, 2. Of fidelity, to make good his Promiſes. Act and Mon. tol. 15 53. In which refpect it is no arrogancy nor preſumption (ſaid M. Glover, Martyr) to burthen God, as it were, with his Promiſes; and of dutie to claime his aid, helpe and aſſiſtance.
