Matthew23:28
Verse 28. But within ye are full, &c.] Fair professours they were, but foul sinners, not close, but grosse hypocrites, such as knew themselves to be so; like as Ieroboams wife knew her self to be disguised, when she went to the Prophet: and as the whore that offered sacrifice to cover her whoredom, Prov. 7. 14. This hypocrisie goes worthily coupled [illegible: 1 word] with iniquity. It ariseth from secret Atheisme, as in Ananias and Saphira that noble pair of hypocrites, and paveth a way to the unpardonable sin, as in these Pharisees.
