Verse 16. No man putteth a piece, &c.] Austerities of religion are not to be [illegible: 1 word] upon new-beginners. God would not carry the people to Canaan thorow the Philistims countrey (though it were the nearest way) for discouraging them at first [illegible: 1 word] out. Our Saviour spake as the Disciples could Mark 4. 33. hear. Discretion is to be used, and Christs lambs handled with all tendernesse.
