Proverbs11:6
Verſ. 6. The righteouſneſs of the upright ſhall deliver them] As Noahs integrity prevailed for his ſafety. Many are the troubles of the righteous; but, out of them all, they are ſure to bee delivered. No Country hath more venemous creatures, than Aegypt, none more Antidotes: So godlineſs hath many troubles, and as many helps againſt trouble. As Moſes hand, it turns a Serpent into a Rod: And as the tree that Moſes caſt into the waters of Marah, it ſweetneth the bitter waters of affliction: Well may it bee called the Divine Nature: For as God brings light out of darkneſſe, &c. ſo doth grace.
But tranſgreſſours ſhall bee taken in their own naughtineſs] Taken by their own conſciences (thoſe blood-hounds) and by the juſt judgements of God which they ſhall never bee able to avoid or abide: Though now they carry themſelves as if they were out of the reach of his Rod, or had gotten a protection.
