Proverbs21:21
Verſ. 21. Hee that followeth after righteouſneſs] Though (for ſuch a meaſure of it as hee deſires) hee cannot overtake or compaſs it. If hee bee but doing at it, Si faciat praecepta, etiamſi non perficiat, if hee think upon Gods Commandements to do them, Pſal. 103.18. If, though hee cannot open the door, yet hee is lifting at the latch, hee ſhall bee accepted, yea rewarded. Hee that follows after righteouſneſs and mercy, as an Apprentice follows his Trade, though hee bee not his Craftſmaſter, ſhall ſurely finde righteouſneſs, with life and honour to boot. And is not that a good thing, a treaſure to bee deſired?
