Proverbs21:31

Verſ. 31. The horſe is prepared againſt the day, &c.] A very ſerviceable creature, and in battel full of terrour; ſo ſwift in ſervice, that the Perſians dedicated him to their god, the Sun, [non-Latin text not transcribed], as Pauſanias hath it. But as the Sun in heaven can neither bee out-run, nor ſtopt in his race; ſo neither by men (though wiſe) nor by means (though likely) can Gods purpoſes bee diſappointed. An horſe is a vain thing for ſafety; Neither ſhall hee deliver any by his great ſtrength. Pſal. 33.17.

But ſafety (or victory) is of the Lord] Hee gives it to which ſide hee pleaſeth; as hee did to the Iſraelites in the conqueſt of Canaan, though they had no horſes to help them, as their adverſaries had, and Charets too, both Aegyptians and Canaanites.
