Proverbs3:26
Verſ. 26. For the Lord ſhall bee thy confidence] The Hebrew word here uſed, ſignifies both unconſtant folly, Eccleſ. 7.27. and conſtant hope, Pſal. 78.7. And Rabbi Solomon ſaith, that hee had found in the Jeruſalem-Targum this Text, thus cenſured and expounded, The Lord ſhall bee with thee in thy folly; that is, hee ſhall turn to thy good, even thine inconſiderate and raſh enterprizes, if thou addict thy ſelf to the ſtudy of wiſdome.
And ſhall keep thy foot from being taken] In the ſnare which thou waſt near unto, by chuſing, rather to bee held temerarious, than timorous.
