Verſ. 30. Strive not with a man without cauſe] If mens hearts were not bigger than their ſutes, there would not bee half ſo many. And Robert Holgat Arch-biſhop of York, of whom it is recorded, that in the year 1541. hee obtained a benefice in a place where one Sir Francis Askew of Lincolnſhire dwelt, by whom hee was much troubled and moleſted in Law; Upon occaſion of theſe ſutes, hee was fain to repair to London, where being, hee found means to become the Kings Chaplain, and by him was made Arch-biſhop of York, and Preſident of the Kings Council for the North. The Knight before-mentioned, happened to have a ſute before the Council there, and doubted much of hard meaſure from the Archbiſhop, whoſe adverſary hee had been. But hee, remembring the rule of the Goſpel, Godw.
