Proverbs3:35
Verſ. 35. The wiſe ſhall inherit glory] Not have it onely, but inherit it, Hoc eſt proprio, perfecto & perpetuo jure poſſidebunt, as Pellican, they ſhall have it as their proper, perfect, and perpetual right.
But ſhame ſhall bee the promotion of fools] A fair promotion they come to, but good enough for them, unleſs they were better. If they attain to high places and preferments, theſe prove but as high Gibbets to bring them to more diſgrace in this world, and torment in the next. Some there bee that read the Text thus, But ſhame taketh away the fooliſh; that is, it carrieth both them and their hope away in a pinch of time, or twinkling of the eye, as it were.
